How many copies do I need?
There is no standard number of copies to print, this varies per person. The best thing to do is to make a list of people you want to give copies to, and add the required copies (reading committee, Pedel bureau, university) to that. The average number of copies is about 100 – 150 pieces but we can produce any number of copies, from 1 to 1000.
How much is it?
This depends on the number of copies you want, the number of pages, the implementation and whether you do the layout yourself or prefer to outsource it. You can easily request a quote on our website, but you can always contact us for more information.
How long is the quote valid?
The validity period of the quotation is 6 months after the quotation date.
What if the final order specifications differ from the quotation?
We always check the final order specifications with the latest quotation and adjust the price up or down if necessary. The invoice is therefore always made and sent after approval of the proof.
How do I determine the type of paper for my dissertation?
G-print is used as paper for the vast majority of theses. This paper is slightly glossy, but not as glossy as heavily coated paper. The advantage of this is that it makes the color stand out well, but also gives an excellent print result for text. However, there are also alternatives such as 90 grs. Biotop (uncoated, cream-coloured paper), 90 grs. HVO (white raw paper), or recycled paper. Costs don't vary that much so personal preference is by far the most important here. You can always request our information booklet without obligation, which contains all available paper types, so that you can see for yourself which paper you think is the best for your dissertation.
How do I do the layout?
This depends on which program you use for this. In the case of Latex, templates from predecessors are often used. In addition, word and indesign are perfectly suited to participate in the layout. In our information booklet and on the site you will find detailed instructions with regard to drawing up a correct page layout and other layout elements. If there are any questions or problems, we are always available for help.
Can I also outsource the layout?
You can definitely outsource the layout. We have specialists who are happy to prepare both the inside and/or the cover. On average, the total layout takes about 2-3 weeks. Just a simple cover can be ready within 1-2 business days.
How do I know the correct back thickness?
The spine thickness is determined by the paper type and the number of pages. We have developed a spine thickness calculator for this, which can be found on our site. If you enter the number of pages here and select the paper type of your choice, the correct spine thickness will appear.
Can I have my files checked?
It's always a good idea to have your files checked while you're formatting. If you send them, we will check them and give feedback on the total layout so that you can make the files completely in order so that they can be processed properly immediately upon delivery for the proof.
Do I have to schedule the printing of my dissertation?
No, it is not necessary to make a reservation in advance. If the files are delivered before 13:00, they will be processed the same day.
Where do I deliver my files?
You can send the files by mail up to < 10 mb. If the files are > 10 mb, you can use our wetransfer channel or, preferably, upload them in the order portal.
How do I indicate my wishes?
You can indicate this in the order portal when uploading the files. If you deliver by e-mail, you can do this via the order form or as an accompanying e-mail.
Printing process & delivery:
How long does the process take?
On average, the total turnaround time is 1.5 – 2 weeks, including a hardcopy proof. If the files are delivered before 13:00 and can be processed properly, the proof will be sent the same day. After approval for production, we need another 4 working days to deliver the books within the Netherlands. Shipping to addresses abroad is also possible, but this will take a little more time.
I'm in a hurry, can it be faster?
You can. With our rush option we can deliver the books in 3 working days. However, there are a number of conditions attached. The 2 most important ones are that the files supplied must be ready to be processed immediately and that the approval for printing is given within one hour after the digital proof has been sent.
Will I receive a proof?
A hard copy proof is included in the normal procedure. In an urgent procedure, only a digital proof as PDF is included. The proof will be made on the same machine and paper as the final print run and is therefore almost 100% comparable with the end result.
Can I have my books delivered to multiple addresses?
We can send the dissertations to as many addresses as desired.
Will I receive a track & trace?
The day before the dissertations are sent, you will receive a track & trace. You will also be able to find these in the order portal.
When do I have to pay?
We will send the invoice after approval of the proof. The payment term is 2 weeks after delivery of the books.
Can I pay with a credit card?
No, we cannot process credit card payments.
